THE WAKEFIELD & DISTRICT RADIO SOCIETY - AMATEUR RADIO LICENCE TRAINING

The Wakefield & District Radio Society is pleased to announce the provision of Amateur Radio Training Courses

from Foundation, through Intermediate to Advanced (Full). The training team comprises three RSGB/RCF registered
instructors, with more in training:

(Lead Instructor, Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced)

(Instructor, Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced)

(Instructor, Foundation)

Our courses run at all three levels on a regular basis and are held at either the 23rd Wakefield Scout Hut,
251 Barnsley Road, Wakefield or in the Training Room at the rear of Ossett Fire Station.

Course prices and durations (assuming one lesson per week) are as follows:

  • Foundation £50 (5-6 weeks)

  • Intermediate £60 (10-12 weeks)

  • Advanced £70 (26-30 weeks)

The course fees include the exam fee, one years' full membership of the Wakefield & District Radio Society (needed for insurance

purposes) and amount for administration, photocopying and refreshments. If you are already a member, discounts are available.

Several Foundation (M3/M6) and Intermediate (2E0) courses have already been run, with a successful pass for ALL

trainees. An M0 (Advanced) Course is now in progress and the next Foundation Course starts soon.

Syllabuses and the like are available from an external site, accessible from our links and downloads page.

Photos from some of these courses (including a recent success with Clayton West Scouts) are shown below.

We recently trained our first blind candidate - Louise Simpson who passed and is now M3WSQ.

She swears she's not going to use the phonetics "White Stick Queen"!

To request further details, or to "book" a place on a course, please contact the lead instructor
who can provide you with all the details. John can be contacted either by email (click the name above),
by telephone (01924 251822) or snail mail at 30, Swift Way, Sandal, Wakefield, WF2 6SR

Photos of some of the aspiring (or should it be perspiring?) M3's are shown below attempting to erect an
aerial system outside the Scout Hut where most of the courses are conducted. No names are included to protect the guilty!
