Wakefield Methodist Church

Location:
The W&DRS HQ is located in the large Scout Hut behind Wakefield Methodist
Church, about 1 mile south of Wakefield city centre on the A61 Barnsley Road.
Directions from Wakefield city centre:
1. Follow route signs for Doncaster A638 initially, until signs for Barnsley A61
are apparent.
2. Follow the A61 Barnsley Road for about ½ mile.
3. Pass the white-painted Aagrah Indian restaurant on the right.
4. After 150 yards, take the first entrance on the left just after the
brick-built Methodist Church. (If you reach a railway bridge, then you have
overshot by 100 yards.)
5. Turn immediately left towards the church itself, and then follow the driveway
round to the rear where the Scout Hut is situated.
Directions from M1 junction 39:
1. Take the A636 towards Wakefield.
2. At the second roundabout, take the 4th exit on the A6186 to Sandal.
3. Cross over a double mini-roundabout by the Asda supermarket.
4. At the first set of traffic lights, bear left on the A61 towards Wakefield.
5. Cross over two further sets of traffic lights.
6. Pass a Volvo dealership on the right, and then go under a railway bridge.
7. After about 100 yards, take the second entrance on the right, just before the
brick-built Methodist Church.
8. Turn immediately left towards the church itself, and then follow the driveway
round to the rear where the Scout Hut is situated.
Directions from A61 Barnsley:
1. Pass through Newmillerdam.
2. At the first set of traffic lights, bear right on the A61 towards Wakefield.
3. Cross over two further sets of traffic lights.
4. Pass a Volvo dealership on the right, and then go under a railway bridge.
5. After about 100 yards, take the second entrance on the right, immediately
before the brick-built Methodist Church.
6. Turn immediately left towards the church itself, and then follow the driveway
round to the rear where the Scout Hut is situated.
Directions from A638 Doncaster or A655 Normanton/Castleford:
1. Enter the 30mph speed limit after Heath Common and go under a railway bridge.
2. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights, on Agbrigg Road.
3. At the T-junction at the far end, turn right on the A61 towards Wakefield.
4. Pass a Volvo dealership on the right, and then go under a railway bridge.
5. After about 100 yards, take the second entrance on the right, immediately
before the brick-built Methodist Church.
6. Turn immediately left towards the church itself, and then follow the driveway
round to the rear where the Scout Hut is situated.
Buses:
The venue is served by the 52A, 102, 110, 194, 195, 196 & 485 bus services, and
there are stops on either side of the road very close by. More information can

Most SatNav units accept postcodes as destinations. The post code for the
Scout Hut is WF1 5NU.
PARKING
There is ample parking behind the church, alongside the playing field (NOT ON
IT, PLEASE!!!!)
In the event of this parking area being full, you can park on Barnsley Road,
just in front of the Church.
